Lactation Preparation Workshop
More than just a typical breastfeeding class, this is an in-person, holistic, evidence-based lactation preparation workshop that helps you actually prepare for those first few minutes, days, weeks, and months of body feeding your baby!
So often, people prepare for childbirth by reading books, watching birth videos, taking an entire childbirth class, and creating a birth plan, but they don’t realize that preparing to feed their baby is just as important!
But it’s not as easy as just learning what a “good latch” looks like. It’s also about understanding how the human body makes milk, what normal breastfed baby behavior looks like, and setting up realistic goals and expectations (you want me to sit and nurse for HOW MANY HOURS everyday?!!). It’s about being able to identify some of the most common hurdles that trip folks up and about building a coping mindset that will allow you to safely and effectively jump right over those hurdles with determination and skill.
At the same time, your instructors are real human beings who have had their own struggles, their own successes, and who bring a trauma-informed approach to supporting your unique feeding journey. This makes this workshop an amazing opportunity not just for first time parents who are starting from scratch, and experienced families seeking a solid refresher, but also for those who desire a completely different feeding experience from one you had before.
Join us in adorable downtown Silverton as we dive head first into everything you need to know in order to feel confident getting your feeding journey off on the right foot — and to keep it that way!
Our lactation class is held in the beautiful and calming Emerald Events space on the first floor of the Hartman Building in Silverton, Oregon.
A note on inclusivity: Our goal as educators is to facilitate a learning space that is safe, supportive, and informative for all people preparing to give birth. This class is an LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and Disabled Affirming Space!
Upcoming workshop date: October 19, 2024
Time: 9:00am - 12:30pm
