More about Bethany

I started my birth work career as a young adult when I accidentally slipped into the world of professional nannying and discovered my love for supporting families and caring for new parents and their newborns. A few years later, when I started my own family, I quickly realized that my own blueprint for parenting wasn’t going to cut it for my kids, especially my neurodivergent children. I jumped into the world of understanding the neuroscience of children’s behaviors and became a certified parenting educator, where I went on to support hundreds of foster, adoptive, and biological families through coaching and classes, with a specialization in trauma and human relationships.

After some time, I realized how critical our own pregnancy, birth, and early life experiences are for creating life long patterns, so I backtracked in my learning and went back to school to study birth work. Fast forward to today…. I have since gained experience working birth and postpartum support in the public health and hospital settings, and am currently back in private practice so that I have the flexibility to support families in more personalized (and sometimes radical!) ways and to have the freedom to be the fearless advocate that is so often missing. I am passionate about providing trauma-informed, disabled, and gender affirming care.

I am also proud to be a trainer for Childbirth International, where I mentor new birth workers entering their field. I am an accredited Breastfeeding Counselor through Breastfeeding USA and a Certified Parenting Educator and Holistic Family Consultant through the Consciously Parenting Project.

Because of COVID-19, I have acquired additional training and certification in Safety and Infection Prevention and Control in order to protect my own family, your family, and our community, while also being able to continue providing support. I am also a certified Trauma-Informed Professional and a trained bereavement doula.

In 2024 I became a Certified Spinning Babies® Parent Educator, which means I have specialized training in identifying and understanding how the parent’s and baby’s bodies work together during pregnancy and birth to navigate labor and delivery. I teach private and group Spinning Babies® Birth Preparation classes to help create comfort during pregnancy and easier labors during childbirth for both baby and parent.

I am a THW Doula (traditional health worker) that has met all requirements according to the State of Oregon Health Authority and Medicaid in order to bill OHP.

I do my best to make sure your body and your heart are safe with me.

When I'm not working, you can probably find me unschooling my kids, cooking and baking, binge watching a pointless reality show, probably taking another class of some sort (because I’m a HUGE nerd!), fantasizing about traveling the world, and definitely camping and swimming in a nearby creek!
