“When we encourage new parents to ‘treasure these moments because they don’t last forever’, we need to remember to also reassure them that they will survive these moments because they don’t last forever.”

— L.R. Knost

After your birth, in many ways, you and your baby are actually getting to know each other for the very first time.  You are beginning to understand who they are, what their personality is like, how they prefer to be comforted, and how they like to sleep and eat.  And they are learning who you are, how you smell and sound outside the womb, and how you respond to their needs in this great big world where everything seems so bright and loud and new.

…and all of this is happening while you are sore, exhausted, bleeding, and hangry (pot pie anyone?)!

You may have questions about the difference between disposable and cloth diapers, different feeding choices, how to comfort a fussy baby, and how to safely sleep now that this little person needs you round the clock. Or you may be an experienced parent who just needs an extra set of hands or a little bit of “me time” to feel whole and recentered after all of the adjustments that have come.

Let us help you find answers that resonate with your unique family and nurture your physical and emotional transition into parenthood.

  • a warm, nurturing presence to help make your evening calm and productive

Undoubtedly, evenings with a new baby can be some of the most challenging times of the day! Partners are coming home from work, everybody wants dinner, and baby might be fussy and clingy. They often want to cluster feed, lament about all the wrongs in the universe, and only want to be held....just when the rest of your family needs you the most.

You might feel overwhelmed and like you're running out of energy or hands. For all these reasons (and more), this part of the day is sometimes called "The Witching Hour.”

This is where we can help! We can assist with dinner, occupy older children, or hold the baby while you get some much-needed uninterrupted time with your other children or your partner, or just catch your breath with some alone time.

As nighttime approaches, we can help clean up and get family members settled into bed for the night.

Your initial “getting to know you” 30-min zoom session is included at no charge.

Makes a great plan for a recurring evening of your choice each week!

HELP

(exclamation point)

$120

(fully covered by OHP PacificSource)

Reasons you might need one-time HELP! from a postpartum doula:

  • an intimate and reflective birth story processing session

  • help creating a safe sleep environment

  • learning to baby-wear

  • learning to cloth diaper

  • newborn education around bathing, feeding, soothing, or another need

  • a warm, knowledgeable advocate to accompany you and your baby to a medical appointment

  • a knowledgeable friend to go with you to a support group

Sometime during the postpartum period, you might need a little extra support, perhaps to have a safe space to process your birth experience with an empathetic and reflective listener.

Or you might need some help with a specific concern such as baby-wearing, feeding, sleeping, or soothing your baby. We know A LOT of tips and tricks for baby care and we have a wide range of baby carriers to try on or even rent for a month at a time, as well as different types of cloth diapers to explore.

You might just even need a one-time friendly presence to help care for your precious baby while you tend to another obligation, attend a medical appointment, have a date with your partner, or just sleep, eat, or take a long, hot, relaxing bath alone.

We get it. We’ve been there. We can do all of that… and more.

This is typically a 3 hour session and will be tailored to your unique needs.

Your initial “getting to know you” 30-min zoom session is included at no charge.

All of our postpartum doula support packages can be customized and tailored to your unique needs or bundled together with the birth doula package of your choice.

  • “Because of the positive relationship we had built, I was ecstatic when Bethany agreed to be our postpartum doula. She offered breastfeeding support, affirmed all the big feelings I was experiencing, and helped my husband and I focus on the changes that come with adding a baby to the family. When [our baby] arrived, she cuddled our son like he was one of her own. My favorite memories include Bethany’s enveloping hugs when she came through the door — the long kind that only come when you’re truly invested in the emotional wellbeing of the other person. And her tutorials on babywearing were a game changer for me and my family — even my husband got into it! Bethany’s gentle guidance throughout those early postpartum weeks really helped me build my new-mom confidence and helped me tap into my instinctual side. Bethany was a pivotal part of our birth experience, and she’ll forever be a part of our family.”

  • “Samantha was amazing when it came to my postpartum care and breastfeeding support! Not only did she help me transition into being a first time mom with ease, she also allowed me to ask any and all silly questions I had in regards to being a first time parent. Her help during the first few weeks of parenting were so uplifting and vital, especially when I would start feeling the baby blues. She always reminded me I was valued and that I was doing the best for my son. She also helped me actually enjoy breastfeeding my little man and made it easy to where I knew all the lingo when it came to breastfeeding and made sure I felt comfortable by trying different techniques that worked well with my body. I can’t emphasize this enough, but her support after birth with both postpartum and breastfeeding care was AMAZING! She helped me gain a new confidence I needed to be comfortable with my body postpartum! I would highly recommend her and her services!”

  • “Bethany helped me through my whole pregnancy… She didn't stop there. She made us meals after I gave birth. She helped clean as well. I don't know what I would have done if she wasn't there. Thank you for all your love, support, and confidence through it all. I would definitely choose her again.”

    ~J.D., Salem OR

  • “Bethany, thank you so much for being there for us in such a critical time in our lives. You’ve been an amazing postpartum doula. We’ve learned so much from you and you helped us immensely during the recovery process. It has been lovely to see [our daughter] grow and also begin to now smile when she sees or hears you arrive. You’re definitely a special human in her book, that’s for sure.”
